This is a handwritten Advent sermon from 1978. It’s written in blue ink on blue paper with yellow highlighting, as well as some writing in black ink and red pencil. Since this was preached on December 24th, it’s technically a Christmas Eve sermon, and it includes some historical context of when and how Christmas started.

This sermon is a bit of an oddity. It was from December of 1979 and was performed during a midweek Advent service. Pastor Steve dressed up as John the Baptist and gave his sermon as if he had traveled through time to Wausau in 1979. The service is called “An evening with John the Baptist”.

Here is a printed and highlighed Advent sermon from 1987. There is a bunch of yellow highlighting as well as a few revisions in blank ink. There appears to be an adapted Scandanavian joke about underwear near the beginning of the sermon. There is a reference to the “new” green Lutheran Book of Worship, compared to the older versions.
